2024 SWAAG Student Summer Field Award

SWAAG invites students in the SWAAG region to submit applications for the 2024 SWAAG Student Summer Field Award. The main purpose of the award is to help defray students’ travel and resource expenses related to their field research and creative activities in the summer of 2024. Awards will be between $250 and $350, with exact amounts depending on the number of applications received and funds requested. We can currently offer a maximum of $2,000 to support all awardees.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicant is enrolled as an undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral student at a SWAAG institution.
  • Applicant has not previously received a SWAAG Student Summer Field Award.
Application Submission Process
  • Complete the application form and submit it by Friday, 19 April 2024, 11:59 pm Mountain Time via email to the SWAAG Treasurer, Michaela Buenemann ([email protected]). Include “SWAAG Student Summer Field Scholarship – [Your Name]” in the subject line of your email.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Applications arriving after the deadline will not be considered.
Application Evaluation Process
  • Non-student SWAAG Board members and two external reviewers from the SWAAG region will evaluate the proposals using the rubric on the last page of this document.
  • Applicants will be notified regarding award decisions by 3 May 2024.
Post-Award Report
  • Award recipients are required to submit a short report (500 ±100 words) with visuals (e.g., photos) detailing their use of funds and how the funds contributed to their summer field research and creative activities. The report is due to the SWAAG Treasurer by Monday, 30 September 2024, 11:50 pm Mountain Time.
