The principal objective of the scholarship is to defray travel and data/equipment acquisition expenses related to thesis and dissertation research activities. Applicants, including undergraduate, masters, and PhD students, should expect awards to be around $300, though amounts will depend on the number of applications received and the student’s budget justification. At this time, we are able to offer a maximum of $2,000 to support all awardees.
The award will be oriented primarily to those without other substantial funding. Recipients of previous Summer Research Scholarships are ineligible to apply. At the time of submission, eligible candidates must be an enrolled student at a regional SWAAG institution and have a GPA higher than 3.0.
TO APPLY: Proposals should be delivered in a single PDF document and should include:
Post-research report: Summer research scholarship recipients are required to submit a short report (250-500 words) detailing their use of funds and how the funds contributed to their research (photographs and other visuals are encouraged). Submit this information to the SWAAG Treasurer within 1-month after completion of the research or data/equipment acquisition.
DEADLINE: Proposals are due April 1, 2022. Incomplete applications or applications arriving after the announced closing date will not be considered. Non-student SWAAG Board members and two external reviewers will evaluate the proposals. Notification of the results will be made as soon as possible. The results will be announced via email.
